Scott Gibson

Lead Veterinarian/Owner

Dr Gibson and his family are members of LakePoint Community Church.

Doctor Gibson grew up in Roswell Georgia. His favorite sport was soccer, which he lettered in during high school. A summer foreign exchange trip to France sparked a love for overseas travel. For college, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After receiving his undergraduate degree he attended the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine. During school, he worked as a technician in the school’s large animal facility. He performed his senior externship in Montana at a mixed animal practice. His favorite patient there was a ‘pet’ mountain lion named Rosie who received a dental treatment.

After receiving his license to practice, he first chose to work in Savannah to be near the ocean. He spent a good bit of time struggling to surf in Tybee Island’s waves with a 10’ Stewart surf board. His roommate worked at the Savannah Veterinary Emergency Clinic, which led to some moonlighting as an ER doctor. This later became helpful as he spent a couple years as a full time ER doctor.

Dr. Gibson co-started his first animal hospital at Lake Oconee in 2006 and sold it in 2018. While there, he had the opportunity to work with some very talented people and meet some very nice clients and patients. Being well grounded in the Lake Oconee area (his wife Vonda grew up here), he is very pleased to have had the opportunity to acquire a beautiful and convenient facility from Dr. Ted Smith. After a brief renovation, he believes it is the best facility in the Lake Oconee area for your fur babies.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill B.S. in Biology 1993, University of Georgia Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 1997. Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. Georgia State License # 5824
